Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Cancelled return leg of BA flight — what compensation due?

  • 3 posts

    Hi

Have my TPA – LGW retrun leg of my trip cancelled by BA. I know I can rebook on a date of my choosing but finding it hard to get hold of BA or find the answer to see what compensation I’m due for extended hotel stay, car hire and impact on work back in the UK.

Any one have any ideas what you’re entitled to as the BA site isn’t that clear.

They have given me 20 days notice (in Tampa for a month and already here).

    Cheers

    Sam

Duty of care applies, so hotel, 3 meals a day (no
alcohol) and transport to airport until
the flight back home. The costs have to be reasonable, but generally if you want to stay in the same hotel that’s fine.

Even if you get hold of BA, the agent will probably tell you they won’t cover. Just keep all the receipts and submit to CS/legal department on your return.

What have they auto rebooked you onto to get you home?

Is this a flight only or BA holiday booking?

Being given 20 days notice means no compensation but as stated above duty of care applies but this is not endless (which is why I asked about what they have rebooked you on)

As above – BA will usually rebook you onto the next available flight, and unless you have a complex booking (e.g. involving domestic connections), you should be able to either accept this or move the flight to another date via MMB.
