Hello all,
I’ve been informed by my solicitor that BA has agreed to settle my claim. This pertains to a flight that was canceled two years ago when I was traveling with friends. Initially, BA refused to settle the claim, but they have now agreed to do so through the solicitor. Should I recommend to my friends that they file their claims directly with BA since they’ve agreed to pay out on mine, or would it be wiser to suggest they go through a solicitor as well with a reduced payout?
Thanks!
Stephan

Getting a solicitor/claims company to handle these sorts of claims is like paying someone to tie up your shoelaces. The fact BA has agreed to settle your case is not determinative, but is certainly worth mentioning when your friends claim directly to BA for a full payout. It’s very simple and if BA rejects their claim they can go to CEDR for free.
Well I guess it is just time spent vs costs and given it took 2 years to resolve it’s like a bonus I wasn’t expecting and I’m glad I didn’t spend hours disputing the charge. I haven’t tried the CEDR before so thanks for the suggestion and if I hear it was a fairly painless process I may consider them going forward.
I have used the claim solicitors once on a cancelled flight with SAS. I chased for 6 months and they kept denying it. I left it and then by chance saw a claim solicitor advert and gave them the info. They managed to get the money out of SAS by filing a claim in court and on day or hearing. Sometimes its just worth it to take the help and pay
