Couldn’t see this elsewhere but must be answered by someone.
Am on a legacy curve black card and am looking to cancel card but struggling. The cancel account button on the app says contact support but after sending emails and chats no one responds and it’s been almost 2 weeks now. Any tips?
For some background, 6 weeks ago curve temporarily blocked my account and asked me for details of my salary and account statements for my Barclaycard which was linked to curve. I refused to give it to them as it’s confidential and they said that failure to provide may lead to account closure but nothing has happened since. Card is still blocked and account isnt closed despite my best efforts!
Thanks in advance
It’s the responsibility of financial institutions to run KYC (know your customer) checks. All institutions may ask this at any point. This includes asking for the account statements
Just cancel your underlining credit card (ask for a replacement)

This is exactly what I did but it just annoys me that I can’t close the account. I don’t like having unnecessary accounts open!
If curve has blocked you and you don’t want to be blocked why bother doing anything more? Just cut up the card and delete the app
Curve locked my account. Took me 6 months to sort it out
First they claimed I had 2 Curve cards – I only had one
second they claimed I was linking other peoples credit cards – I hadnt
third they claimed I hadnt replied to emails – which I had never received
Eventually when I was about to give up they conceded and gave me £25 compensation – if there was any competitor I wouldnt touch them with a bargepole

Assuming the OP wants to close their account and remove as much of their data as possible — and clearly, they don’t trust Curve with their data — I would suggest an email to
privacyrequests@imaginecurve.com
requesting account deletion and exercise “right to be forgotten”. If Curve don’t confirm it’s done in a couple of weeks escalation to the Information Commissioners Office may be advised.

You cannot make that request of Curve or make such complaint to the ICO as financial services firms are legally required to retain all your data for six years. I’m not sure why anyone offers such advice with the threat of escalation to a public body whose time will be wasted with zero knowledge of the rather obvious position.
I recently closed / deleted a number of accounts I no longer used with various organisations (mainly travel related)
Some are easy as they have a specific “delete me” button but others require an email.
Most of the companies send an email saying things along the lines of “we have closed your account but we have retained some of your data due to regulatory and legal requirements”.
Here is the ICO right to erasure page. There is a section on exemptions.

That’s why I said “as much of their data as possible”. In the context of financial services that might be very little. However, it will get the account shut down.
I’m not sure why anyone is so quick to criticise without reading a post properly.
I pondered a bit about cancelling my Curve having not used it in ages, this is mainly due to many of us having a little bit of worry about a bank severing all ties with an individual, as Curve gave the ability to obtain cash via credit card spend, while managing to obscure the procedure.
It took no time whatsoever to close the card down within the app, and I’ve got intention of ever going back too them
