Cancel Amex Plat – maintain reward points without transfer?

Just checking you have to take the ARCC out before cancelling the Plat? You can’t just ask them to downgrade/change card and keep the Reward Points alive?

Correct. Take out a new card and then ask via chat for the points accounts to be merged. Once the same balance shows on both then you can close the plat

You might be better off with a gold in Y1 as it’s free and you’ll get some perks

We both have a Plat, but really only need one, only did it for the bonus. I did wonder if we merged the two plat accounts (mine and the Mrs) would it have the same effect?

Will think about the Gold.

Having done a bit more research I understand we can’t pool MR points between individuals, only for an individual with multiple cards?
