Yes. You can have up to 4 cards on your account (don’t know if buns l business cards are included in that count)

Thanks. I was aware that you can hold up to 4, but I was wondering if there were any specific limitations when it comes to those two.

I had those two together for nearly a year.

There are two ways you can play this: Either apply for the Gold as a separate card, or, apply for it as a supplementary card based on your Platinum cardmembership. The latter means there’s no fee, ever, but really there’s nothing stopping you from just cancelling the card and reapplying for it if you go down the other route.

The gold supplementary card on the platinum charge account will be a gold charge, and without any of the stand-alone gold perks (2 lounge credits, double points on airline bookings, etc).

My apologies – I was told otherwise! What’s the point of labelling it a gold card then? I find it hard to believe that this is the case. If I remember correctly, adding a supplementary card to your account (even if you issue it to yourself as the primary cardholder) incurs a charge if it’s outside your free allowance of 1 free plat and 4 gold or greens. Plats were charged at £285 and Golds at £170. Is it really that you’d be paying that money and receive no benefits? Can’t get my head around it.

I mean it IS still a Gold card, it’s just not a Preferred Rewards Gold card!

I still believe that a gold supplementary card to a Platinum account gives all known benefits to the cardholder. If it didn’t why would Amex market it as a gold card and what would its difference be to a Green card, which is also an option – and a cheaper one at that.

    Confused…
