Can you extend points bookings?

I’d like to book 2/3 nights whilst they’re available and then add the remaining ones to get to 5 once my Amex MR points reach the account.

Can this be done? I seem to remember having issues extending stays in the past and having to cancel and rebook.

Just cancel and rebook the 5 for 4 if price works when you have the points. If you feel the price is excellent now then consider buying the extra points you need. Never done it but I imagine any effort to extend tge booking will simply reprice at time you do it anyway. Check your booking frequently as prices go down as well as up; I saved 21k on a 5 night Phuket stay by rebooking today.

Always cancel and rebook, or ideally rebook then cancel, when dealing with Hilton.

I think modifying a points stay effectively cancels and rebooks anyway.
