Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Can I make a claim for tier points?

Booked an indirect flight to a regional Spanish airport on Iberia via Madrid in Business to get my last 60 tier points to get to BA silver and to be able to guest in a daughter on my return flight also via Madrid. Outward flight to Madrid was cancelled and I was successful in arguing a seat on the direct flight to the regional airport, though arriving 5 hours later the same day. That was in fact the closest to the original arrival time

    2 questions.

1- As well as missing an afternoon of my holiday, I will lose 20 tier points on the outbound meaning I miss reaching silver on that leg and remain bronze for the return in economy. Is there any way to request they get credited?

2 – just checking but as we arrive 5 hours later I assume the relevant mileage based EU261 comp can be claimed?

    1) yes, it’s called original route credit (ORC). You’ll have to claim it though via the call centre or e-mailing BAEC. I wouldn’t expect it to be sorted by the time you return if it’s in less than 2 weeks though as it’s a manual process & will be very low priority.

    2) yes, you’re entitled to compo assuming cancellation wasn’t for an exempt reason like weather.

As the booking is via Iberia, I assume I should contact them for the ORC?

If you are crediting to BAEC then you contact BAEC

I think you will find even the TP for the flight as flown won’t automatically post. I find Iberia flights are terrible for being credited, even more problematic if it is an IB flight no on BA metal. But definitely contact BAEC about Original Routing Credit.
