Hi any tips for buying euros with my Amex Platinum card? I only need about £700 for half term holiday. Assuming this is the most cost effective way?
You will struggle to find an FX provider that takes credit cards, and even fewer take Amex. Even if one did, it is likely to be treated by Amex as a cash withdrawal – with the associated fees – rather than a purchase.
John Lewis allows paying by card, but only their credit card.
Now I think about it, one of the supermarket cards had the same deal.

They still do. There’s no points advantage, but I bought $2,500 last week on my wife’s card and their rate (including the premium credit card bonus) was significantly better than anything else I could find online.
