Hi All – what’s the priority order for BA releasing I class seats in Bus to use with the new 241 vouchers. I’m interested in a route that currently shows R going out and C coming back. Does this mean I Class have been and gone or that they will appear nearer the departure date (July). BA might actually get more passengers if they reduced the prices. Over £800 each to the Azores !!
Previously, once I class fares had gone and the more expensive fares such as C, R and J were being sold, that was it. There were exceptions, but not many. Are BA aircraft that full that they can afford to get away with just selling expensive fares or is it a deliberate ploy to dampen demand from all those new companion vouchers coming through?
It seems that after the fanfare of the change of policy, BA are being frugal with the release of I inventory. Changing our South Africa plans to “almost anywhere” travelling before New Year and returning after New Year became an exercise in seeking that I class fare that was more elusive than the Yule lads.
It would be a great improvement if Seat Spy added functionality to also search for I class inventory as well as pure reward inventory.
You can use ITA Matrix (https://matrix.itasoftware.com) to find I class fares. I picked up some LHR-MIA tickets next year that were available as I fares. Took a bit of explaining to BAEC call center and they needed to search for ‘revenue fares’ and then reallocate to a redemption.
