Forums Other Housekeeping Bug on news comments page selection

  • 38 posts

    Hi,
    A bug with the headforpoints site that has been annoying me for ages is the links to the other pages of comments on news articles. In Chrome when you switch page to p2 or p3 it scrolls you back up to half way through the article and then you have to manually scroll back down to find the comments section again. It doesn’t seem to do this in Safari, but definitely an issue in Chrome. I did look to see if someone had mentioned this before but searching for comment or pages came out with tonnes of forum posts, so apologies if this has been asked/answered many times before!

    Thanks

    John

    Ok, after posting it I scrolled down the housekeeping forum and saw that it was mentioned on 21st Dec, so you can ignore this one!

    Thanks. Will flag with our IT guy although it may be more of a Chrome thing if it works in Safari.

    Yup.. there’s always nuances to make things work or look the same in the different browsers.. the joys of web development!

    Can confirm it’s also the case for the Samsung mobile browser.

    @rob

    Just to update on this its not changed and its an easy fix , its just the last part of the link thats not formatted its says /#commentsContent rather than /#comments – the first takes you to the content and the second to the comments where the link is supposed to go.

    Todays example :- https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/02/03/30000-bonus-points-with-capital-on-tap-business-rewards/#commentsContent should be https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/02/03/30000-bonus-points-with-capital-on-tap-business-rewards/#comments

    The side bar when not on the front pages are correct taking you to the comments but moving from comment page X to comment page Y are always wrong forcing you to scroll down through the article time and time again.

    Rob, This problem still persists. It’s been 6 months.

    Probably because I don’t think either of us ever sent that fix to IT Neil 🙂 Apologies. Will get Rhys to deal with whilst I’m away.
