    Hello

I want to book some rooms for future stays as Christmas presents for family with Hilton. I have gold status courtesy of Amex Platinum…how do the benefits/points work out?

Eg 1 Booked a room for Parents (I won’t be staying), they also have my supplementary Plat card – do they need a hilton account to access the upgrade/benefits? eg Free Brekkie and upgraded room

Eg 2 Booking for myself, and a separate room for Sister and her fella…do they get the same benefits as me?

How would the points stack up?

I am lead name on both bookings and have paid for them myself.

    Cheers

Eg 1 -> no benefits as the people staying don’t have status. You (actually your parents) might get lucky, but don’t count on it. Best option is to set up their own account, upgrade their status to gold using Amex link and they’ll get the benefits.
Eg 2 -> similar here, the hotel is only required to provide benefits to your room, again you may get lucky, but be prepared to pay if they refuse.

For points, refer to this article:

Thanks for reply and the useful link. I did guess correctly my parents would need to sign up to HH to get the benefit.

I think i’ll just benefit from the accrued points on the booking, and the benefits i’ll get when I go with sis.

    Thank you

Not too long ago, I made a booking for the Hilton Canary Wharf.
The hotel were fine with a family member staying there instead of me, but they wanted an email from me authorising the family member to stay in that room.
Upon checking in they received an upgrade and complimentary breakfast. Lounge access too, but it wasn’t used.
I also received the points for that booking.

This is similar to a few bookings with IHG properties. IHG policy allows it.

With Hilton, I think it must depend on each individual property.
