Forums Payment cards American Express Best way to keep MR points alive?

  • 55 posts

P2 has approx 150k MR points, only a gold biz charge keeping them alive (which is nearly going to trigger the Y2 fee so keen to cancel asap)

What is the best way to keep the points alive? All I can think is to cancel and she apply for the ARCC (does the arcc still earn mr points on spend?) but open to any more suggestions.

I am due to apply for a platinum personal soon with the current bonus, so I will (moving forwards) probably earn and churn whilst she has the banker for longer term uses, etc.

    Any suggestions welcome! Thanks.

Do not get the AARC before getting the Plat or you’ll be blocked from getting the Plat sign up bonus.

I’d either get the plat earlier than planned, or transfer your current MR out to wherever you’e likelt to want them to go eventually.

Apply ARCC and ensure it’s linked correctly before cancelling gold business. Other option is to transfer to Marriott where you can combine points from your accounts.

Sorry, just realised this was a P1/P2 situation, not all P1. Ignore my comment

If you simply want to keep the MR points you can always opt for the Free The American Express® Rewards Credit Card.

Be sure to link the Business MR account with the Personal account. Points will be retained whilt keeping the ability to earn and redeem points.
