Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Best way to give Avios to our son

  • 3 posts

My wife and I have each have around 57,000 Avios points and want to give them to one of our sons (who does not live at our home). I’m blowed if we are going to pay BA two lots of £50 to transfer them. We are, I think, Bronze people. He’s a Blue.

I’ve lost the will to live after reading about Household Accounts and Friends and Family account, and their T&Cs and interactions.

Can anyone, please, tell us the cheapest way to let him use these points.

Just book his flight from your account. Job done.

    Or pay €10 to Finnair – https://www.headforpoints.com/2024/12/20/transfer-avios-for-e10-fee-via-finnair/

If you don’t currently have a Household Account, you’ll need to make one with your son in it (he doesn’t have to live with you) for him to use the avios in both your accounts. Or 2 x the Finnair route.

Give him 3rd party authority on your account, then he can sort his own flight from your account. The short version is to give him your account details.

Out of the box option. Transfer your points to nectar, do your normal grocery shop at Sainsbury’s and give him the equivalent money.

Thanks to those who have replied.
Looks like the Household Account is the way forward as he want to get upgrades.
