Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Best strategy for 5 flying with 2× Vouchers

  • 30 posts

I find the Virgin Vouchers very confusing. Understand that you can use as an upgrade voucher. Or voucher is worth 75k points if no status which we don’t have.

We all want to be in upper class. Two of travellers have a voucher so I’m guessing Best to split the booking in two. Where I get confused is there is seemingly limited value using the voucher on saver rates e.g 29k points. And more sensible to book something at 80k points to a better destination as you get the full 75k points value.

Alternatively tempted with the cash booking for 2 in Upper plus one using voucher. Then separate booking one in Upper with one using voucher.

Any help appreciated this seems way more complicated than the BA scheme to work out best value.

There’s an article on here about the vouchers, though it’s not clear on first glance whether it was actually updated following the recent changes:

Also a few recent threads about points and vouchers.

What route is this and is it one-way? Have you already looked at the points/cash pricing? How many points have you both got to use?

Preferred route would be Cape town but know it’s enormous points so tempted with the cash tickets for that and get companion with voucher. Alternatively Bengalaru with a view to catching flight to Sri Lanka but there’s plenty points saver availability that one.

    Thanks

It’s slightly complicated upgrading a cash fare now, and you might still need a lot of points. Rob explains it a few times – I think including on one very recent thread in the Virgin section of the forum.
