Hi, I’m flying Doha to KL via Manchester and was wondering which lounge is closest to the gate that Qatar use for this flight. I have read up on the lounges and the new Garden lounge looks great but not sure if it’s too far from the gate Qatar use for KL flights?
Having just flown from Doha, we were told our gate was far away from the Garden lounge and wasn’t worth heading to – but we went anyway. It was only a 10 minute leisurely walk to get back to the gate, and you can take the train/people mover to the lounge from check-in. I’d say it’s definitely worth it if you’re happy with a short walk – the garden lounge is fantastic.
We went to the Garden lounge on both of our recent flights. Didn’t walk as had special assistance booked – in fact yesterday morning the special assistance man driving the buggy seemed a bit grumpy we wanted to go there as it was far away (wasn’t really). Lovely lounge, very quiet.
Do you mean Man to KUL via DOH? I’m not sure if there are any ‘standard’ gates, unless you are going somewhere which requires pre-departure screening eg Sydney which presumably has to depart from a suitably equipped gate.
Arrival from UK should mean you can bypass transfer security and it will depend where you are deposited into the terminal. Our last connection at DOH arrived very close to the newer Al Mourjan Garden lounge so we tried it but were not overly impressed*, but departed from a gate down south near the older AM South lounge.
*It was very early hours and pretty much deserted and with lots of ‘cleaning in progress’, and as we discovered, no toilets in the shower cubicles – which they do have in the older Al Mourjan south.
