I’m sure Rob covered this somewhere recently, but for the life of me can’t find it. What is the order of events to set this up to ensure the initial new customer bonus is applied?
I’ve successfully opened a Premier current account – do I initiate my switch first then set up Avios Rewards? Or do I activate Avios Rewards first, then initiate the switch from my old account?

I’m in the same situation, but if you read the T&C’s closely, it doesn’t matter as long it’s within 3 months. So I opened the account, enrolled to Avios Rewards and will initiate the switch once I get rid of the annoying SP042 error.

Takes some days until your account is fully open. Then you can set up Rewards without any errors 🙂 I have completed my switch recently and now waiting until I receive my (hard earned) bonus

Ah thanks! Hopefully it’s just that. I actually activated the Rewards and managed to link my BA account fine. When I called the helpline after a week of opening, they said it’s a known issue they’re working on a fix and I should keep trying. Will be two weeks since opening shortly 😔
Has anyone who had error SP042 seen it actually go away? It’s been weeks for me and other than ‘it’s a known issue’ nobody at Barclays knows anything about what’s causing it or how it could be resolved.

Nope still broken. Called some time ago and messaged them recently. Both times I’ve been told it’s a known issues and they’re working on fixing it, supposedly…
I joined Barclays recently and its initial joining procedure is far from a “Premier” experience, however stick with it. Once up and running the App and in branch help is excellent. I am very happy with the product and I am glad I switched. The combined family travel insurance and RAC membership package at £12.50 represents great value to me.
What this account needs is a linked Avios Barclaycard. Are there any rumours on this or non Amex credit cards on the horizon ?

I’m glad I’m not the only one experiencing this! Signed up for an account in December and have had that error message since then. My Avios seem to be posting fine though

Was half-expecting a HfP article to drop today, given the cat was out of the bag, but nothing yet.

I was expecting an article today too. Given it is pretty imminent, it is not a long wait! With so many threads rumors are much harder to pick up these days.

Yes, I created those cards threads yesterday after finding the details on the web.
I assume HfP are embargoed until they can do an official article on the products and will hopefully then get a kickback from Barclaycard for each card application via this site.

Happy to report that after a month the error disappeared and I can see my Avios now!
