Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Barclays Avios Plus card not working with Curve (and many other transactions)

There was a post from user Chris on the long comment thread underneath the article promoting these cards, which chimed EXACTLY with my experience. Unfortunately this site will not let me reply to that,m which is very unhelpful for sharing experiences of this poor situation.

I am almost one month into card membership and I cannot get it to work with Curve. I also get declined at anything that requires Mastercard authentication – paying bills, large transactions, PayPal, etc. I have spent 1.5 hours on the phone beng passed around various fraud departments repeating my personal details and my requests over and over again and gettng the card “refreshed” but nothing makes any difference. I have double checked my address and phone number and email and all seems in order.

I am also getting the infuriating 00002 error message when using the app… oddly, I always get in on the third attempt but the first two attempts always give me that random iOS error message and a blank screen. Again, nobody in the scripted call centres knows anything about this (it took four attempts and 30 minutes to get me verified on the call so I wouldn’t recommend anyone waste time calling them).

There is a slim to non-existant chance of these bonus Avios ever appearing isn’t there?

Has anyone (Chris?) managed to resolve any of these issues?

You can try keeping them on the phone whilst you do the Curve auth. I had success with this and then you can just use Curve for everything else. Ridiculous that you need to do this though !

Yeah I tried that but no dice – he could see the transactions coming in but didn’t seem to be able to authorise them in real-time. It was a painful conversation.

Hmm that’s odd. They fixed my curve and PayPal authentication issues while I was on the phone with them, as well as a 2FA decline. They discovered a phone number or address issue. It was correct in one part of the system but not the other, and it had my landline rather than my mobile even though it showed properly in the app.

It must be the fraud dept and on the phone.

Yes, I got someone on my third go who could help!
