I was charged the £20 monthly fee a full two weeks before I received the card. So, I set up a direct debit to pay the full amount. A week ago, I got an email from Barclaycard to say that the amount to be collected will be £10.10 as there is a credit on my card. I’ve no idea what that credit is as it isn’t shown on my statement. Sure enough, yesterday, Barclaycard took £10.10 from my bank account. Today, I got a text message stating that I had not paid the full amount and if the extra £9.90 wasn’t paid immediately there would be a £12 late payment charge. So, I decided to pay over an extra £9.90 even though I don’t believe it is due. I entered my Lloyds Bank debit card details only to be told “Sorry. We can only accept UK debit cards”. Since when did Lloyds leave the UK. I tried several times. In the end, I had to use my wife’s Barclays Premier card, which was accepted. I can’t believe how incompetent Barclaycard have been so far.
I had a similar thing. The £20 statement, then we’re taking £19.28 on the DD. Someone, Curve I think, but not sure, had took .72p and then credited it back, some sort of check. So Bcard deducted the credit amount from the £20 due.
They don’t seem very good, but the SUB and voucher will work for me if BA survive their current meltdown.
I went on chat about the statement and charge being issued before they’d sent the card. Lots of text fluff that they agreed with me, but could do nothing, if I didn’t like it call Barclaycard.I believe my complaint to the Barclays CEO, after they completely ignored my regular complaint, ran to 11 discreet points of what’s gone wrong. 2FA still doesn’t work…
All my online transactions which require 3DS still doesn’t work either. I tried calling Barclaycard online *again* today and hopefully can get to someone who can actually help. The past few times they’ve just either said they can’t find my account, or they can’t see any transactions being denied at all. Currently on hold for almost 2 hours…

Thanks! But I’ve tried doing that and it didn’t work, they couldn’t even detect me trying to make a transaction nor adding my card to Curve.

Oh wow… Sorry to hear 🙁
I still have no Avios visibility or functionality on my app. No chat function either. You can input feedback but it doesn’t send. Overall 50 shades of crap is my summary of Barclaycard. Teething troubles are all sorted out, my arse.
According to HfP, the problems are all resolved and they continue to heavily push the new Barclaycards 🙄

It works fine for me. HfP has laid out the benefits, for many it’s a very good card.

In fairness to them, I had the usual teething problems with delays, but the card is working fine now. Once Apple Pay is added there’s not much more I need.
Their app isn’t great, and I dread the day I ever need to attempt an interaction with their support team, but for day-to-day the card works well.

This is normal for Barclays and some other cards including Amex, you’ll have to pay the 72p next month.
While most people here shouldn’t be in such a position, if you’re ever short on cash you can buy something expensive and refund it quickly, then this will give you another month to pay off your real balance, without being charged interest.
Curve’s GBIT also allows you to create “fake” refunds and effectively add an extra month to a card’s interest free period
@John. Indeed. But that’s the top of a very slippery slope. I’m guessing few here would need to delve into such methods.
I had to pop into our local Barclays branch yesterday to pay in a cheque (a cheque of all things!). Shame the app doesn’t have cheque deposit functionality built in like Lloyds.
Anyway, Was very impressed with the automated depositing ATMs in there – never used one before. Staff were super helpful too which was reassuring.
I’m pretty sure the Barclays app does allow cheque deposits: choose the Pay and Transfer button on the bottom panel (iPhone app) and one of the options is pay in a cheque. I’ve not done it but it seems to be available.
I’m definitely holding off applying for this new card until they sort out these major issues
Generally working OK for me, for what I need at least. Some flakiness in the app (e.g. I never managed to get biometric login to work), but I did at least manage to link my Curve card successfully.
Can’t get my wife’s supplementary card to link to Curve though. Curve just reports validation failed, and the Barclaycard account shows a zero Crv*card Verification pending transaction.
Anyone else seeing this?

Good spot. Thanks!

Uploading it as a pdf.doc should upload fine.

It does.
So, despite still having no Avios functionality on my app, Avios have today appeared in my BA account and appear to be based on my spend prior to 31 March. Some faith is restored in the product, even though their customer service and interface is garbage.
Avios appeared in my BAEC account today. Yesterday was my statement day.

Interestingly the statement itself doesn’t mention the amount of Avios you’ve earned, unlike Amex.
