I’ve referred my partner to a BAPP with bonus and nearly at the 241. I currently have BAPP but no pint in both having paid cards.
Which is the best option in terms of cards,
Downgrade to free BA and once 241 triggered on partners reapply for BAPP and cancel hers.
Close card and apply for Gold card
Leave my BAPP card open and close hers in ninth or so when 241 triggers.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Personally I’d ditch the BAPP and not bother with the free BA.
Gold is great for a year if you can hit the bonus spend target.
If you’re looking to film-flam between the two cards I’d hold BAPP as short a time as possible (just enough to get the companion voucher) and hold Gold the rest of the time (or in 13 month stretches).
Just my view. Your circumstances may be different.
The Nectar card has a higher Avios earn rate than the BA free card so it might be worth considering. Also, Rob has hinted there might be changes to the Amex card at the end of February (and not to cancel) and it seems likely from other posts Barclays will be offering some kind of card in the near future so it might be worth holding off until the new landscape becomes clearer.

@memesweeper – do you also hold Platinum Charge?
