Hi all,
I know that most of the HfP crowd wouldn’t be keeping larger credit card balances over time, but it’s worth a shot asking about this for anyone who is willing to take a look into their Barclaycard account on the web.
Can anyone confirm whether they’ve been offered or used a balance transfer from their Barclaycard Avios Plus account? From Barclaycard account on the web, go to ‘Transfers and offers’ on the toolbar.
I’ve got a relatively new account and currently have no offers available. When I queried this with Barclaycard via the call centre they said that they don’t offer balance transfers with this specific credit card product. This surprised me – I mean, why wouldn’t they offer this? Surely it’s a nice earner for them?
I was also surprised since balance transfers are mentioned tangentially on their product page on the web, and as part of the application I was asked whether I wanted to a balance transfer, and I submitted an amount. After initial acceptance, I had to submit requested documents for proof of income, and in the email confirming my new credit limit, they stated:
What you need to do
If you applied for a balance transfer, you’ll need to request it again – just make sure the amount you’re asking for isn’t more than 90% of your available credit limit.• In the app, tap ‘Make a transfer’ in the top left menu
• Or log in to online servicing and click ‘Transfers & offers’
If you’ve got a promotional offer, you’ve only got until 12 April 2023 to make your transfer.
Given the horrendous time I’ve had with getting my new Premier Current Account and Barclaycard Avios Plus account to actually function and let me move money around, it wouldn’t surprise me if there was yet another IT system issue at play here and I’m just a getting a ‘computer says no’ response from the staff.
Appreciate anyone who can share their experience and/or whether they are currently seeing anything in their online account.
If you want a balance transfer, get a dedicated balance transfer card. Don’t mix it with everyday spending cards you have.
What BBB suggested. You will not get any 0% offers on this card
I wanted to do a money transfer last week (short term solution, paying solicitors fees on remortgage). No offers available. Ended up using Billhop.

Money transfer is different from balance transfer, which is what this thread is about. Why would there be offers for money transfer?

I’m well aware thank you, but there are several reasons why I’m not applying for additional cards right now.

Thanks for letting me know.
Anyone else able to actually address the question asked?

Yes, money transfers are different from balance transfer, but the thread I started is called “Balance/money transfers from Barclaycard Avios Plus” – the reason it is relevant is because the two types of offers both sit on the ‘Offers and transfers’ screen on Barclaycard online services.

I’d suggest maybe reading the title of the thread before you start getting all aggy with me.
