Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Baggage allowance on Iberia

I am flying economy EDI-MAD as BA silver. Booked on BA using avios. Do I get a free checked bag? Does my travelling companion on the same ticket get a free checked bag? I’m finding it difficult to see what allowance is allowed lol

There is a page on the IB website with baggage allowance details, because I recently booked 2 basic economy flights and wanted to know the exact same thing.

You definitely get 1 checked bag as Silver – IIRC it’s one extra bag on top of whatever category you booked. I don’t think other pax get any without status.

I will try and find the page.

    It’s on here.

I still haven’t found out how to select a seat though. I’ve tried all the tips on here and FT but the selection won’t stick.

Thanks @NorthernLass, I have checked the link and it is one extra bag. However, on my BA E-ticket it says both passengers have 2x32kg but still need to check with Iberia 😂
I did manage to book my seats though…

With Iberia it is very easy:

    – On the cheapest tariff you have no baggage

    – People with status (not their companions) get a free check in bag (BA silver or Gold)

Sometimes Iberia also allows companions to check a bag when you use the business counter (but they do not have to).

One “feature” with Iberia is that you can ALWAYS check in your hand luggage. So technically you have free checked baggage but of smaller size.

    @NorthernLass to select a seat:

    – Get the Iberia APP

    – Add your booking (use the IB code not the BA code – in case you booked an IB flight through the BA website-)

    – Check your booking and you will see the passenger names, make sure you have your BA card in and not the IB one (specially if you bought with Avios you had in Iberia)

    – You can now select the seat, if it asks you to pay, just go back. You will see it says you have a selected seat.

Yes I’ve done that over and over. It shows that I have the seats for an hour or so but then reverts back to no seat selected. Sad face, as Froggee would say.

I booked on the IB app and did enter my BAEC number, even though this involved a lot of faffing around and having to remove my details and re-enter them as “Iberia member not travelling”!

Both are cash bookings. £30 each AGP-MAD and MAD-MAN, so happy that I would actually sit on the floor without complaining at that price!

Would be handy to know how to do it though …
