I flew BA0869 from BUD to LHR on 10/07/22.
Boarding was delayed and delayed due to waiting on an engineer, when finally on the aircraft we sat waiting for an ATC slot for a while, and then on landing there were significant ‘fumes’ in the cockpit which necessitated a fire service response immediately on landing and busses to the terminal from a distant area of the airfield (once the cockpit door opened, the melting plastic smell was quite strong throughout the aircraft).
Disembarked around 19:00 instead of 16:10 (just shy of a 3h delay), and BUD is just under 1500km so I believe 2h is the compensation time limit?
Is it possible to find out the recorded reason for delay and whether it is worth claiming?
From my perspective, it was mostly technical issues – but am betting the ATC slot availability will have been blamed.
