Hi I’m trying to check award availability for Lon-hkg for the 1 May for the last 2 days and I keep getting the same message coming up about trying later … trued numerous devices and clearing history I can’t get it to work … are there issues currently
Was wanting to see if BA or CX on there direct service have 2 business seats – 1 way , can anyone get it to work please
I can see the following LHR – HK 1 May
1 business class on BA 19.35 departure
4 PE on Cathay 17.00 departure
8 PE on Cathay 18.20 departure2 business class BA LHR to Man connecting to Cathay Man – HK 07.00 BA departure connecting to 11.10 Cathay departure
1 PE and 1 Business class LHR to KUL connecting to Malaysia KUL to HK 21.10 departure connecting to 19.50 departure in KUL on 2May
Managed to access the info by going through the check Reward Flight Availability option and then Reward Flight Finder – like you it was erroring out when trying to search directly
It depends on the date. I have been trying to look at LHR-HKG for Feb 2026, and it fails every time – no matter how I approach the date – either directly with a standard Avios search or through the Reward Flight Availability option – which shows 3 days in Feb 2026 have at least 1 seat.
Every time I get the error “There was a problem with your request, please try again later.”
When I try the 1st May 2025 as above – it works. I’ve been having the same problem for 2 days.
I’m getting this same issue but for any search , not just HKG…
Are other people able to search ok?
I believe I’m getting the error when there is no availability to be shown

I assumed the same but was up at midnight last night anyway and so searched for some flights bang on midnight and still nothing…
Seems it’s not affecting everyone tho…

I booked the outbound via BA.com and got offered Qatar flights and it applied my companion voucher. Will I still be able to apply the voucher by calling up BA if I do as you suggest?
Having the same issue. Flight booked with Avios to Perth with Qatar a month ago all ok.
Can’t now book return, any search in to 2026 comes up with an error.

Ok so please ignore my post above. I now realise that I cannot use the voucher on the return Qatar leg. but also learned that I cannot use the full amount of Avios in our BA household account to book via Qatar , only my own. I could try and call Qatar to change the date already booked ( the wrong date) as I can see availability on Qatar that hasn’t reached BA’s site yet.
Morning, I am currently having this issue and my husband has previously had this issue, thankfully not at the same time!
I can get it to work ok when there is availability, but not when there is none, as per SamG…
problem is I need to book return flights from HKG at midnight and this issue is impeding that…in that as the availability won’t even show when supposedly it becomes available

Almost all dates i try is showing up with the error. Even if i can see flights available under the “reward flight finder” section, when i try to select the flight i get the same error…

I actually called them this evening whilst I’m working… the guy I spoke to was helpful and confirmed he could see the same issue when he tried on his own iPad .. however he then dumped me in a queue to speak to the accounts team and then I was promptly cutoff… haven’t had an opportunity to call back
He said was def an issue (obviously…) but he had no idea how to get it fixed. He confirmed my account looked ok tho, so supposedly not account related…
Only thing I find strange is that there are only a few of us complaining about this on here, so others must still be able to book flights ok…?
I think will require more people than just me calling up to alert them to this as they clearly have no idea

I’m in a similar position – have booked the outbound but need to get the inbound, and have to book via BA because of the companion voucher.
Very frustrating
I’ve also been having the same problem for over a week, trying to test book companion flights back from Doha, having booked the outbound ok a couple of weeks ago
This is on both mine and my wife’s account.
Playing with it a bit tonight, no problem booking flights to Europe or the states but anything to Middle East , Asia or Australia seems to be a problem.
It’s not that they have these occasional IT problems that I find so frustrating, it’s that it takes them so long to fix them.
Sadly the only solution seems yet another long wait on the phone !Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, raised this with BA a week ago, a case was raised. And then nothing since. Seems to affect redemptions on partner planes from mid Sept onwards. I’m not holding my breath
I’ve had the same issue for 2 weeks for HKG … every date I try nothing comes up and it errors
Finally took the bullet and called , there were seats on BA and CX on there direct also AY and QR on the indirect services for my dates so it’s nothing to do with availability
Have rung back this morning and got someone who acknowledged the issue and said he is aware it’s been a problem since 12 march… IT are supposedly working on a fix…
I suggest everyone affected rings them up, asking the same question and encourages them to get it fixed quicker… this will then illustrate the cause and effect of their poor IT, ie increased unnecessary calls
