Final hours of the BA sale, suddenly realized, oh crap, haven’t done anything about the several short-haul flights should have booked over coming weeks/months. Get going on it, book the first one, add Qatar number (as have just re-qualified for BA Gold, but, like most people, clearly not going to re-qualify for next year under new terms), book flight, get confirmation email, all good.
Go to book next flight immediately, all good until I get to putting in my Qatar number… “There is an error with one of your entries”… guess which one?!! It becomes quite quickly clear that BA is obviously tracking my attempts at NOT booking with Executive Club — attempt MULTIPLE times, attempt incognito mode, download other browsers, attempt visible and incognito on those, download VPN, try different flights at later dates, wait until I come home and try all of the above on my laptop — bearing in mind the site has conveniently also been inaccessible for booking apparently due to customer volume for a 3+ hour interval (yes, that glorious old chestnut in the western world in 2025), and STILL the same refusal to recognize Qatar number.
Wow. Just wow.
Talk about being unbelievably #&%*€§-ing petty…. THIS is why we’re leaving you in droves, BA.
You truly do not give one flying **** about loyalty.
It’s like the company is being run by a bunch of chimpanzees mashing the keyboards with their fists.
I am still attempting to fly fairly regularly on your planes, and thus give you my money, when it would actually be insanely easier and preposterously cheaper for me to fly Ryanair to the nearest airport to where I need to be for these specific flights, and THIS is your answer. Bravo.
Interesting first post. I suggest you call them, repeat all that word for word and confidently expect to get absolutely nothing out of it.
If you think the BA website is tracking your separate booking sequences and taking action because you dared to enter a different airlines FF number then you have a much higher opinion of their IT capabilities than most of us!
Why didn’t you just book WITHOUT any loyalty program and then added the Qatar number from the MMB page?
