Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA – LHR to Kuala Lumpur – Which terminal and best lounge ?

  • 34 posts

Does anyone happen to know which terminal this service departs from ? Is it the main T5 terminal or one of the 2 satellite terminals ? We’re travelling on Mon 5th May.

Also, we’re flying in Club World but we also have a Priority Pass. Would anyone recommend the Plaza Premium lounge over the usual business class BA lounges ? Our connecting flight from Scotland arrives into T5 late afternoon so we will have a few hours to kill before out 21:10 departure to KL. Not sure how busy Plaza Premium gets in the evenings.

The “satellites” are both regarded as being part of T5 and not depart terminals.

Stand allocation can change on the day but will likely be 5B or 5C

There is a lounge in B but not C.

Since you have access to both lounges why not try them both?

There is a very small chance it will leave from the A gates, far more likely to be B or C, but no absolute guarantee. In your position, I’d just go to the B lounge & hang out there. Maybe even go and have a relaxed, half decent meal somewhere first as that’s a long time to be snacking on what always seems to be carb heavy food.

Worst case scenario, you need to walk (don’t take the train) back to the A gates but the information should be available in plenty of time.

Whilst BA lounges aren’t the best, I think many on the forum get a bit too animated when describing their disdain for them.

Have visited all the BA lounges before, just never visited the Plaza Premium. Will at least try to get in assuming there is space.

5B lounge definately gets the thumbs up over the T5 north and south lounges but not sure if you are allowed to visit the 5B lounge if your flight is taking off from the main T5 terminal.

I was very disappointed with the PP lounge on my visit last year: dirty, crowded and a pretty poor selection of food. Pity, as it used to be great.

The 5B lounge is open to any flights, if you’re leaving from A terminal they’ll just warn you at the door that you need to walk back in good time.

for on your way back when you leave KL – The golden lounge satellite at KLIA 1 is a good lounge, there is good range of food on the buffet, pasta station, malaysian and western food, but the restaurant seating bit has a counter that serves good curry laksa done to order

You are certainly allowed to use the 5B lounge but you need to be aware – as mentioned by the real Swiss Tony – of the need to take the correct route back to A and to leave extra time to get back there.

There is an article on using the walkways if you search for it.

After a few nights in KL, we’re making our way to Singapore for a few nights and flying home from there. Really looking forward to seeing Changi airport in person to see if its as good as they say it is.

Slumming it with Air Asia to get to Singapore but flight is less than an hour so I’m sure we’ll cope !

As we’re travelling in CW on BA, does anyone know which other lounges we can use at Changi airport ?

Ignore – a quick google search told me everything I need to know. Looking forward to trying a Qatar lounge for the first time.
