Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA Holidays – deposit option not offered

  • 343 posts

I’m trying to book a flight and car hire package on BA’s website for next May. Everything works correctly until I proceed to the payment stage, whereupon the site only offers the option of paying the full price today. I’ve tried it both with and without using an Avios discount, it doesn’t make a difference and the deposit option doesn’t appear. The cost of the package is £550 so in excess of the £300 minimum to pay a deposit.

Is this BA’s IT at work again or is there another reason why I’m correctly being denied the option of securing the booking with a deposit only?

    What’s the destination?

There are a couple where deposits aren’t offered.

I think I’ve solved it. It wasn’t coming up as an option on Microsoft Edge, but when I moved over to Firefox (on which I was in a never ending loop when trying to log into BAEC in the recent past) the deposit option comes up. Bizarre, you wouldn’t think it was anything to do with which browser you’re using!

Incidentally the booking engine for booking reward flights is broken for me again on either browser (or indeed, when trying Safari on my iPhone). Everything is fine until you go to pay, then it throws an error and gives the ‘Sorry’ screen asking you try again later. Been like this for weeks now. That means another 30 minute call with BA in order to book a reward flight for next week after I did the same 2 weeks ago and flagged the issue at the time….

    What about on the app?

I book most of my flights on the app with no problems.

I didn’t think to try that. I was using TCB to patch through to the website. I did think maybe having TCB cashback active was perhaps taking away the deposit option but then it came up when I went over to Firefox.
