Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA Holidays cancelled a flight – what to do?

  • 60 posts

    Hi
I’m hoping someone here can help me!
I booked a 5 night holiday to CFU with BA Holidays and they have since cancelled and rebooked my outbound to be one day earlier.
They haven’t rebooked my accommodation or moved my return flight back one day (I only want 5 nights).
I have tried to ring on many occasions but just cannot get through. I was thinking of raising a complaint but I doubt I will be able to progress it there.

I heard that if you accept the new flight (which I haven’t) then they eventually rebook the accommodation for you. Is that true? Not sure they would keep it as 5 nights though.

Do I have to keep trying on the phone or maybe Twitter or something?
    Thanks!

No idea if they still do this, but if you’re in no rush and are willing, you can try submitting a request through their email form and see if they get back to you there. I did this one to change Car Hire timings on a holiday booking, and they called me back to confirm the changes and check the price difference. This was pre-covid though, so YMMV!

Twitter is taking about a week for responses atm.
Cancel for a voucher and rebook (redeem the voucher via email)? My understanding is that BA isn’t obliged to cover your extra hotel costs as this is a holiday booking – your options would be to cover the cost yourself or cancel the holiday for a full refund.

    Hi
Thanks for your responses. I think you might be right as it’s been over 24 hours so far on Twitter.
What do you mean, BA are not obliged as it is a Holiday booking @northernlass? I would have thought this means they are?

Your rights are not the same as for a flight-only cancellation, EU/UK261 doesn’t apply. You can either accept whatever changes they propose (or you manage to negotiate) or get a full refund. For example, I’ve seen a couple of people on here post that in the same circs BA has refused to cover the cost of extra nights and by that point the hotel prices were higher. Possibly an issue for travel insurance.

We had our return flight from GCM cancelled and rebooked to a date which didn’t work for us. I contacted BA via Twitter and a week later got a response. Once we got that, subsequent responses became much quicker so I think once they’ve got to your query they do deal with it in a reasonable amount of time. Just waiting for our preferred dates to now be confirmed in MMB!
But of course if we could have done this online it would have been so much easier. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to which bookings you can amend and which not. I did think it might be down to having a domestic connection, but it isn’t as I’ve now managed to move yet another cancelled booking online!
