Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA Exec Club membership year / points allocation

Apologies if this has been asked and answered elsewhere; I hunted high and low, left and right but couldn’t find the answer.

Do tier points earned during the transition period (in my case between 8th March and 31st March) count towards the points allocation of the previous year or of the new year… or do they get added only lifetime points and contribute nothing to either this year or the next? If they count towards the new year and new club rules, does anyone know if the 13.xxx multiplier is used?

Theyll count under the old TP method for your transition year of 1 April 24 to 31 March 25.

All clear, thank you. It would have been good if they’d counted under the new year with a 13.xx multiplier, or under the old if it would be enough to bump me to a 2xGUF1… but they don’t so never mind. Your help is appreciated, ta.

If with these flights you exceed the GUF threshold for all points earned between 1st April 2024 and 31st March 2025 then you will be issued with the vocher.

Only flights taken after 1st April come under the new TP earning system and the new TP collection year system.

Depending how may TPs you are short it may be worth doing a TP run as GUFs can be quite valuable.

    [frantic bashing of calculator]

Eek! Despite a hectic period of travel between now and April I’ll land 375 TPs short of 2xGUF for 1. Hmm. A mad TP run may be a top plan but for a lack of time and risk of marital disharmony if I run off to plug the gap. Also, sadly I expect the cost to earn the necessary points would erode the value of the GUFs. Plus I’d need to trust that my current bookings proceed unhindered; I missed out on 280 TPs this month due to a cancellation and an annoyingly more efficient re-routing home from LAX.

Still, thanks for the tip; I’ll investigate.

If you were rerouted at the last minute because of irrops you can should apply to BA for Original Routing Credit for the TPs you would have earned.

    Call Exec Club.

Certainly was. Weather or Finnair just didn’t fancy running JFK-HEL. Will call the Exec Club and report back. Thank you!

Called the Exec Club and they’ve put through the request to have the missing points awarded. I’d upgraded to first with AA on one leg so in the (possibly unlikely) event that BA elects to award based on First than biz I could be in for an extra 330 TPs. Let’s hope the Dept for Finding Ways of Saying No is in a good mood.

Hmmm – I find this really confusing as hadn’t read it this way or seen this mentioned before (not a frequent watcher of the forums just articles) –

Is the case currently that we earn old system TP’s on bookings we make and fly before March 31 2025? e.g. If i book a business PARIS RTN right now to fly tommorrow, will I get 80TP pre April?

Comments in this thread and others seem to suggest this is the case but at BA’s terms it said otherwise when the news broke- unless I missed this aspect entirely I thought it was effective immediately.

Is there a link or terms that confirm this?

Nothing confusing at all – the new TP system starts on Apr 1st, before then no change.

Potential confusion over bookings made before Dec 30th (I think was the announcement date) for travel from Apr 1st, but that is fairly clearly explained in the FAQ.

Thanks for clarifying. Looks like i read it wrong and was too annoyed about the cowardly way this was all announced to reread the details.

Another numpty question – BA Holidays Double tier points offer : this also applies up until March 31? I recall February was mentioned in the original comms. e.g. book by Feb and still under the double tp/earnings arrangments.

Yes, BA double TPs on holidays is valid for holidays taken by end of March – so awarding old TPs into collection year ending 31 March , nothing different.

14 February is the deadline for booking flights to be taken after 1 April, and be eligible for some bonus (new) TPs. So that’s new TPs counted in the new collection year April 25-April 26. This offer is for flight only bookings, not flights as part of holidays.

@BA Flyer IHG Slayer, just a quick thank you for the tip. BA has credited the missing TPs and Avios, which happily nudged me over the threshold for a GUF2. Many thanks from Mrs Lost and me. No chance of getting 2xGUF1s this side of April Fool’s Day but I await with interest what exciting ways BA has of teasing us towards spend spend spend to earn ‘free’ bonuses in the not Executive Club.

Not sure I can slay anything these days! Though I read Buffy is apparently having a reboot! Buffy the middle aged vampire slayer has a ring to it

But glad it all worked out well for you.

Remember if it helps you can ask BA to split the GUF2 in to 2 x GUF 1s

There’s always a market for vampire slayers… and Bucharest is still a 160 TP CE run. Get slaying!

Top tip re the GUF2 split, that’s appreciated. I could be in the game for 2xGUF1 but that would rely on my post 8th March (membership year and) TPs being applied to this year, plus I’d still need to find an emergency TP run to plug a 75-TP hole. Let’s see.

I always read it as Slayer, in a SoCal drawl! Wouldn’t mind a reboot of Angel and Spike, as obviously they shouldn’t have aged 🧛 😂
