Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA calculation for new tiers is biased

Yikes. Just decided to reread the new points system.

BA are taking even bigger advantage than first thought.

I have been pretty sanguine in the main and not moaned about the planned changes really to save myself angst.

But this ticks me off big time as we are being taken advantage of even more.

Today, I am 94% of lifetime gold (33k) and I just read BA said on its ‘read these changes pages’to understand your new equivalent level, you multiply your current lifetime points by 15.

I should be at 94% or 517k (33k current lifetime) but in their calculation it’s 495k.

That is an extra £22k spend BA are saying.

Some where we need to be able challenge their models and rationale.

Even if it’s just to say be consistent. 94% today is 94% April 1st, not 90% as is the case here.

Your proportional progress towards the next Lifetime threshold will be carried over. For instance, if you’ve collected 50% of the Lifetime Tier Points required for Gold for Life, your new balance will equal 50% of the new threshold. You can work out your new balance by multiplying your balance on 31 March 2025 by 15.71.

    Multiplier is 15.71

Hi, thanks but that’s my point, they are saying it’s not 15.71 (not sure where you got that but the BA site says multiply by 15). which makes a huge difference in this instance. And why I showed the calculation of difference. It goes from 94% to 90% using their conversion calculation.

Hi Arnerd, I apologise you are correct, BA must have seen something from a post/request as the 15 multiplier has changed overnight to 15.71 as you say. Hence my original post.

    that’s better then.
