Forums Other Flight changes and cancellations help AY flight changes – tight connection in HKG

I’m travelling MAN – HEL – HKG – BKK on Finnair and the final leg on Cathay in a few months, booked on Finnair.com but the HEL-HKG leg time has changed to give a 75min connection in HKG. Do you think this will cause an issue and how easy is the transfer in HKG at the moment? Thanks

Sounds like it’s on one ticket so shouldn’t be a problem. Connecting should be extremely easy, 75 minutes is ample though probably not much if any lounge time.

Only problem might be a delay to the AY flight, looking at the schedules there doesn’t seem to be another CX flight that day. If you can still make it they will meet you at the arrivals gate and help you get through security quickly, CX may hold the BKK flight within reason. Otherwise you may have to stay overnight, not sure if CX would put you on a later HK Express flight if available, since they own it.

Looks like a legal connection in HKG so won’t be able to change it. Hong Kong is a very smooth transit so as long as you’re on time near enough you’ll make it easily

There are flights on other carriers as well as HK Express (which doesn’t have interline agreement with AY so I don’t think could be reused for a rebooking) – but there some exotic options actually – Emirates & Ethiopian as well as Thai. I strongly suspect you’d be put on one of those. If not as a flight ex-UK on an EU carrier they owe you duty of care – hotel etc

    That’s great, thanks.
