Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points
I’ve been unable to get my Amex Platinum linked to Avis. I contacted Amex who were hopeless and just pointed me at Avis and after a couple of hoops I was pointed at the “Northern Database” team (database.northern@abg.com) who were quick to help and my profile is now Presidents Club.
But my Amex benefits still show as unlinked. I figure this is unimportant as what counts is Avis.
However, I have no official way of finding the AWD for Amex Platinum (there was one posted in HfP a while back) and when I search from my profile I don’t get any price difference between the forum code and a BA/Virgin code. I also don’t get a free additional driver.
Any more tips on what to do next?
Does Amex Plat really provide Avis PC status?
I managed to get it through the Barclays Avios card (the paid one), along with the associated PC benefits.
Yes – https://www.americanexpress.com/en-gb/benefits/travel/cars/the-platinum-card/avis-presidents-club/
And you can then also status match to Hertz.
OK thanks.
You can also status match with Enterprise Platinum, though I don’t find any genuinely useful benefits with that.

Wow, which Hertz just did in about an hour.
@masaccio AWD code A756900
Yeah tried that and it’s 9% cheaper than without logging in and no additional driver. I’ll give them a call as online search with that AWD gives results no better than using the BA or Virgin AWDs.

You should get the free driver as a President’s Club benefit. I’m not surprised the discount isn’t any better than the BA/VS options. It’s really the PC perks that give you the value (e.g. guarantee upgrade at the major airport locations).

@aston100 Can I ask how you got the Avis status through the Barclaycard Avios Plus card? I don’t see it listed as a benefit anywhere but would be really keen to get that with Avis.

Many thanks for that. I signed up through priceless using the MWE option. It put me on Avis Preferred so I’ve messaged them asking how to get upgraded to President’s Club.
