BA are still offering subscription renewal at original prices – in my case 200k Avios for £1,789.
Am tempted, as usually have 2x 241 AMEX and some BAPP vouchers. But with that they’ve done to BAEC, I don’t trust them to stick another loyalty nail in the coffin and devalue them. Probably still worthwhile with 241 in F/J, but I think for this year it’s 2x £1.8k they will have to forego.
I’m in the same boat – mine renews in a few weeks at £1789. I’m tempted, as I do think its worth it especially with a 241, but I wouldn’t be able to use them for at least 9 months and so have decided its too much to risk on the hope BA don’t devalue Avios in that period.
Yes similar situation, due to renew end of April here, most likely will cancel as probably want to run down my avios balance with the risk of devaluation and would rather put the £1789 on hotels/restaurants etc elsewhere this year.
On the 50,000/£455 variety.
Will stick with it for now as I can generally achieve far better than 0.91p per Avios for Domestics.
Will reappraise next year as E-W Rail opens between Oxford & Milton Keynes sometime this year, which means I should be able to travel from Glasgow Central to Oxford via Milton Keynes in about 4h45m – which will be faster City Centre to City Centre than flying.
I’m in for another year. Getting about 2p value on Finnair to Asia.
I have however downgraded my BAPP, as I have two companion vouchers that I simply cannot use.
This has reminded me to calculate my known needs for next two yeaes. My current balance plus accruals by time subscription ends in September will be more than enough. So I will stop I think.
However I have always been Avios rich. At 0.9p per Avios I needed a backup fully refundable ticket . Gold priority rewards can on some routes be cheapest fully refundable ticket. But you need to be Avios rich, which makes me think.
