    Hi all,

Have to do a quick stop in Abu Dhabi from Tokyo and saw a redemption available in business for the NRT-DOH leg. I quickly took it without thinking much about it given low availability during cherry blossoms seasons but now realised that it was 127k avios for that flight plus the extra economy flight from Doha to Abu Dhabi. Doesn’t that seem pretty steep ? Also, they apparently doesn’t use much of the Qsuire anymore on that route so it’s a double bummer (though it’s my fault for not checking more thoroughly !!)

    Thanks !

I’ve only just started making QR redemptions but that does sound a bit high – how do the avios for the 2 flights break down? I paid 7k avios plus £60 for economy DXB-DOH for later this year which also felt a bit high, but cash prices were ridiculous one-way. Have you also checked if you were charged double avios? It can be easy to miss this as it’s in quite small print on the website – QR will charge double on routes where there are no standard award seats.

I have asked this before and I believe there isn’t a chart published anywhere unfortunately. There is a calculator you can use here to check for individual routes:

    https://www.qatarairways.com/en/Privilege-Club/qcalculator.html

I think NorthernLass is right and your business redemption is at 2x because I did a quick check using that calculator and the “normal” business rate is 60k avios one-way. Your total looks to be 120k for the DOH-NRT leg plus 7k for the economy AUH-DOH leg.

You can see when its double avios rates when you are looking to book because there is a green “2x” symbol on the relevant date (or at least that’s what it was when I was looking myself a few months ago)

Oh wow, I did not even know a double avios pricing was a thing ! Guess I should have been more careful ! Too late for me to change now so hope I’ll eventually get the qsuite at least !!
