Hi, I cancelled a flight yesterday AM at 09:13 and my flight was the following day at 09:20. I received the cancellation email at 09:13 so had 7 minutes to spare before it was within 24 hours. Usually, I get the points back straight away and the funds back a few days later, but don’t have the points yet? Is this usual when you do it so close to the cutoff? I got this email below, which differed to the usual one (booking reference removed):
Dear Customer,
Thank you for your application for a refund of the following booking
British Airways booking reference:
We have received your information and are currently processing your refund.
We will refund any money owed to the card used to make the
booking and we will send you a confirmation email when it’s been
done.
Will I be ok to get the points and refund minus ad in fee back as I can prove I cancelled before 24 hours of the flight? Thanks.
Return of avios isn’t always instant – especially if there has been any change to the original booking which then seems to require manual intervention.
So youe messages you got are perfectly normal and not a sign the refund won’t be approved.
Give them a call. A redemption flight i made nearly 10 days ago didn’t return my avios and my voucher. I got them back immediately during my call
