Discuss today's stories:
Just seeing if anyone is planning on going to watch either the Lions (Rugby) or the Ashes (Cricket) in Australia next year?
Both are on my bucket list and being in Bangkok makes it a possibility. Can’t do it all but can potentially do 2nd/3rd Tests for the Rugby and 3/4th Tests for the cricket.
Am ignoring the ridiculous and astronomical pricing for tickets atm and just looking at dates/flights etc..
Also if anyone has any tips for either I would be interested.
Thanks
Last time I checked the Accor Limitless page, there are tickets/deals there for the British/Irish Lions Tour. So if you have enough Accor points, that could save you a fortune
I’m going for a month to follow the Lions. Agree match ticket prices on the “official retailers” are, well, extortionate. They were offering 2 x (3 nights Holiday Inn plus test ticket), so 6 nights and 2 games, for the “brilliant” price of only £3,000. Given that equivalent accommodation was available on Hotels.com for a total of £400, that’s just a bargain £1300 per match, which seems to allow for a fair profit margin!
Although I have alternate plans for match tickets, I did see test tickets on German ticketmaster at £400 each, so, strangely wouldn’t be bothering with the official package, although it does include a free shirt, and access to “The Lion’s Den” on match day, but even so the word “profiteering” does leap to mind…
Flights booked for me, but obviously being several thousand miles closer, and not in a traditionally rugby heavy country I presume your flights will be easier.
Good luck!
Planning a trip at the moment, when would these events be so that I can avoid travelling then?
Lions is 28th June to 2nd August, first in Perth, then SW corner….

Not seeing anything for the Lions on Accor, but there are some bargains to be had – buy it now with hospitality – for PSG matches if that takes anyone’s fancy…
The gullivers/living with the lions and all the other sports travel organiser have tied up all the Lions match tickets with their extortionate package prices.
Sourcing match tickets is your challenge and myself and a few mates have resigned ourselves to not going as it’s too difficult get hold of match tickets and none of us are going to travel without having them in hand.
Will be the first one we have missed since our first in 1993. Paid £900 for return economy back then Heathrow – LA – Hawaii – Auckland
Cricket a lot easier to travel and watch now. Just did business class to Antigua with virgin to watch the cricket and sourced hotel/ match tickets ourselves and our cost was half what the travel companies charged with economy flights.
Sri Lanka likely next in Jan/feb 2026
gw57, Thursday 12pm AEDT is the second release of tickets to the general public. The linked site from the AUS RFU is to Ticketek, who, according to its terms, as far as I can see, would sell you tickets provided you are not resident in UK or Europe. Do you have a friend or acquaintance somewhere else in the world?
