Last week was rerouted to CHC due to AKL floods. Was CI53 from BNE.
China Airlines made no contact,no info given and wouldn’t answer phones and has no rep in CHC so we had to buy new ticket air NZ CHC-AKL. Any idea how best to claim this cost? Slept on airport bench as not let off plane for 5hours so no hotels left and no info on rights and hence have no further receipts to claim. I have submitted enquiry via China Airlines customer feedback form but dont expect a timely response.
I suspect the least stressful route would be to claim on your travel insurance? (And let them pursue the airline for reimbursement if they want to.)
Thanks but our cover only covers delays to flight from uk and flight back to uk. This was a flight in the middle of the holiday. I think this is normal for many policies. I am with Staysure.
It seems the plane departed on the Sunday to Akl but I did not know this as had zero way to contact the airline. I think Montreal Convention states that the Taiwan airline (CI) should reimburse me but does anyone have experience of this? Or am I really required to stay at the airport For 48 hours in the hope that I see the flight on the departure boards??
After 4 hours of Oasis songs over the tannoy in the middle of the night at CHC airport I couldn’t hack it any more 😀
