I’ll change my suggestion to “Fight Club” or “Room 101”. And, as LL suggests, move all questionable conversations across immediately.

Wow, that took me less than a minute. Had to use the wayback machine as the article was recently republished losing the original comments but immediately the tone and wordage leaps right out at you. I mean, when was the last time you heard someone use the word “miscreant”. 😏

I’ll bet big money they never for one moment thought that their emails would be released under the FOIA.

Does any of this matter? The day this was discussed openly, you know the game’s over.

What was most amusing was people coming up with excuses saying banks know about it and therefore we can go about openly talking about it. In the end the banks did know about it, but didn’t care until someone threatened to send to BBC.

Best part was there was atleast one who called to enquire why he was having issues with this specific transaction.

Move on people. As much as you would like to blame the person that sent that email, truth is that you brought this to yourself the moment you crossed the line from taking advantage to abuse like there is no tomorrow.

Ok so I did as above and seemed to find Squills came up. I can’t believe he would do that? He was so loyal to the cause until Rob booted him out of course…

I can find on google at least one other well-known anti-MSer who used the word miscreant in this context on the old chat thread.

I still don’t understand why we don’t have a sub-forum behind a moderated and referral based password protected subdomain which is blocked from google spiders to discuss just these issues.

I know the first rule of the club but I still want to talk about in a relatively safe environment, rather than dealing with flyertalk bunch.

I am just not sure many people want to run a site where it is known that there is a hidden, clique-esque area, where questionable antics are discussed. It certainly wouldn’t help encourage businesses to want to partner with HfP. There is a whole reddit area dedicated to that, if that’s the focus, though probably will be heavily USA focussed.

That all said, Amex seem to have very little issue with the whole temp upgrade/downgrade or quick cancellation + refund thing being practically encouraged, so I guess the world is just full of surprises.

You can make a new subreddit

Yeah, actually this is a good idea — just for the UK context..

so that we can spend even more time online :))

This is of course all wild speculation!

Wild enough that because NS&I was copied in, I have said email and further full correspondence through FOI. Wording involved makes it clear they had read forums (although admittedly not necessarily this one). They threatened to “send the full dossier to HM Treasury (in respect of NS&I) the FCA and the BBC, at least one of whom I am sure will spur you into action if you elect to ignore me.”

Hmm, possibly Creation not being a UK company thought that this completely empty threat might actually have some legal weight behind it. Clearly there’s someone who needs to get a life!

I absolutely LOVE this document. No matter how bad a day I have been having, how hollow I might be feeling, how much of my time I feel I may have wasted on a pointless activity, I read this and get great warmth from knowing that I am not as sad, lonely and bitter as the person who simply emanates from the words written in those emails and have not squandered my very limited time on this planet so poorly.

“I anticipate reading or hearing complaints from the miscreants within days or otherwise your confirmation that definitive steps have been taken, not just being considered. Failing this, I shall, on Wednesday 1 September send the full dossier to HM Treasury (in respect of NS&I) the FCA and the BBC, at least one of whom I am sure will spur you into action if you elect to ignore me.”

    and

I refer to my email of 15 August copied below to which I do not appear to have received the courtesy of an acknowledgement.

You reported on 23 March that you were working with 3rd party suppliers to address the issue. Have you actually done so, or was this just a brush off?

Having not partaken in any of those goings on, the topic never impacted me and continues not to do so. Clearly though it did they. I’m off to find the “old man yells at cloud” gif.

Finally got around to reading all of this. Mr X just comes across as a bully and a bit of a twit, regardless of how moral he may perceive his highground to be. Must be great fun at a party.

    I absolutely LOVE this document…

My favourite is “ I pay to stay at some of these hotels and to have to stay alongside these highwaymen there for ‘free’ just feels ghastly.”

The bullying tone (in the absence of any real ‘issue’ apart from the OP not being in on it) genuinely grates with me.

I believe it is. They mention a post regarding £150k worth per month, and a swift Google of the comments here allows you to find this mentioned comment in one of the ‘bits’ article.

The email writer also uses a couple of unusual phrasings At some points. If you Google said words/phrases using site:hfp… it interestingly comes up with one consistent username across each of these unusual phrases.

Type “miscreant site:headforpoints.com” into google, click on the first link and have a look at comments which use similar wording to the emails in the document. Should give you a pretty good idea…
