Amex refusing to honour statement credit

AMEX has a Marriott Villa and Homes spend £500 get £150 offer currently running. I saved it on two cards. Noticed that Pine Cliffs Residences in Algarve was on the Marriott Villa and Homes website. I booked it, using a prepaid rate which was the T&C (had to be paid online).

Hotel did not charge me until arrival, and they insisted I must pay at the reception desk. No other way.

So: basically:
– booked prepaid rate on Marriott Villa & Homes website
– took screenshots and video
– hotel did not charge me.

AMEX refusing to honour credit, as it was a chip & pin transaction. I explained to them, that I followed all the steps required in the T&C, but the hotel did not charge my card until arrival and reception gave me no choice. Either I had to pay there or they would charge me anyway the no show fee. I made an official complaint to AMEX, but they still refused.

ANyone can recommend what I should do now?

What were the terms of the Amex offer with regards to payment?

If the hotel didn’t charge you at the time of booking on the website then you chose the wrong booking option.
