Forums Payment cards American Express Amex Platinum Travel Question

  • 4 posts

    Hi,
I recently used Amex Platinum Travel to book a business class fare to the US. It saved c£600 v my corp travel agent for the same flex fare etc. I used my Platinum card to pay.
I also have a BA Amex premium plus card. Could I have paid with that (to get more avios etc)? 1.5 avios per £ v 1 MR per £ spent? Or does it have to be with by platinum card to get the International Airline Programme discount?
    Thanks,
    WV

You should get 2 MR points
Cardmembers enrolled in the American Express Membership Rewards programme earn one additional Membership Rewards point in addition to their standard earn rate for every full £1 spent on flights, prepaid hotels, car hire and experiences on americanexpresstravel.co.uk/travel. This excludes cruise bookings and Fine Hotel + Resort and The Hotel Collection bookings where the Cardmember has selected to pay directly at the hotel.

Ah ok. Thanks. So actually better than using my BA Amex. The only way to earn more would be to use my BA Amex on ba.com (but then would not get the significant flight discount)
