Forums Payment cards American Express AMEX Platinum – How long to receive referral bonus ?

    Hi

How long does it typically take for a referral bonus to show on your account?

If you have a BA AMEX Card are you still eligible for the bonus offer and for your partner to get the referral bonus

Referral bonuses typically arrive within 48 hrs or so afterwards, at least that’s my experience. Eligibility for SUBs is much more complicated these days (there are some very helpful articles on here about it). The referral bonus will be awarded irrespective of whether you’re eligible for a SUB, though.

    Thanks – sorry if it’s a stupid question is a SUB a bonus ?

My partner has a BA Premium Card but has not had a Platinum card since 2020 but is a supplementary card holder on my account – do they should be liable for the Amex plat bonus if they hit the spend target?

I think that’s actually quite a moot point. Various people have recently reported not receiving the referral bonus when the referee wasn’t eligible for a SUB. There is no longer the certainty that you will and this both makes sense for fake referrals and fits in with Amex generally tightening up.

I question the validity of the “reports”. Various people I know personally, not strangers on a forum, reporting recieving the referral on legit sign ups even where there is no SUB eligibility. Like lots of things Amex a lot of unsubstantiated scaremongering on this forum.
