HN gone, but Dining Credit still there.

    Same here.

How bizarre. Two hours ago my saved HN Had changed the expiry date to 30.6.25 without me doing anything. Now it’s wiped itself away without me doing anything. Not on saved or available offers now. Very odd

My HN credit also disappeared from saved

Echo the above. HN disappeared for me too.

I wouldn’t worry about HN – it should come back tomorrow. There’s another announcement due in the morning.

HN offer still not showing. Although assuming it comes back, it will stack with the Sloane St offer launched today.

    No article today?

There’s a gap for it to come later in the day – there’s yesterday’s late article about Virgin redemptions, the silly one about advent calendars and so a third will be this.

It’s difficult to imagine that a simple, rather belated iteration of the 2025 Platinum benefits would justify any sort of embargo, so perhaps there’s a broader announcement.

Shame they wasted the opportunity to not revamp the other benefits.

    HERE IT IS!

    Global Dining Credit1

We are pleased to inform you that starting early January, we are launching a new Global Dining Credit. Eligible Platinum Cardmembers will now receive £400 annually. You will receive £200 annually to spend in the UK each year, with a maximum of £100 every six months. You will also receive £200 to spend abroad each year, with a maximum of £100 to spend every six months. We will follow up with full information on how to enrol and redeem in your new Global Dining Credit in January.

The current Global Dining Credit will expire on 31 December 2024. If you are not already enrolled in the benefit, you can still do so until 31 December 2024. If you are enrolled, you can continue to access the benefit until 31 December 2024. All redemptions should be complete by 31 December 2024.

    Harvey Nichols Lifestyle Credit2

We are also pleased to inform you that we have applied a 6-month extension to the Harvey Nichols Lifestyle Credit which means you can now redeem your benefit until 30 June 2025 inclusive.

If you are not already enrolled in the benefit, you can still do so until 30 June 2025. If you have already enrolled in this benefit by saving the offer to your Card, there is no further action from you required. All redemptions should be complete by 30 June 2025.

Splitting the dining credit just makes it more tricky to spend, especially the overseas one. HN was at least good for a few bottles of wine every six months, shame.

    Agreed! Very anticlimactic…

Amex has done well here to shutdown frequent churning, whether that sticks or not time tell!

Splitting the dining credit to £100 now makes it harder for someone like me. Think I’ll be binning my card once I come back from holiday.

Tbf to Amex, this is supposed to be a card for travellers.

I guess people will just complain about anything.

Yeah, that was the gist of it, and probably always will be. Annoying part is how we’re limited to what Amex have available in terms of the restaurant. I was thinking Amex would split things up into 6 months or per quarter for the next offers they’re giving, since they’ve split things up in the USA. My only hope was that it’s for any restaurant, not just the ones they’ve specified.

Just spoke to AMEX customer services who told me their brief notes said that the HN is an extension of existing credit, it is NOT new credit.

I was about to do the same. Thanks for clarifying with them. Rob probably needs to update the article.

Rob has been clear in the comments to the main article that there is an additional £50 credit from 1st January. The language in the Amex email isn’t particularly clear, and I certainly wouldn’t trust the view of one of their CS reps.

Exactly. They could’ve gone one worse and £50 per quarter and really stifled the churners.

I think in one go was far too generous this seems fairer for all

The abroad credit might become more difficult just because it’s not always destinations I would choose but I won’t complain that the U.K. ones got £50 better

Never trust CS with new news. They know less than you let alone Rob.

It’s not designed for travellers because it ignores at least 70% of the world. No restaurants in large parts of the world nothing in Portugal, Greece, Croatia as one of the major tourist destinations in Europe, nothing in South America, Africa, Middle East, large parts of Asia. Even US offer is quite weak, no San Francisco for example.

UK dining credit and HN credit are hardly designed for travellers.

Hotel benefits are very low key and don’t offer much apart from maybe Hilton Gold so pretty much useless to travellers. Priority Pass does not include restaurants.

Insurance is perhaps the only thing that is designed for travellers properly.
