I have my emirates account in my passport name – but for Amex I use the name I have always used – Gary Sharp. emirates will not accept inbound transfers from my amex, as the names do not ‘match’. They used to allow me to change my Skywards name, transfer, then change back, but they are no longer willing to do this.
Before you say “Change the amex name to match”, well, 1. I don’t want to and 2. the passport name is longer than the 20 character max on Amex names.
How do others deal with this, admittedly 1st world problem?
Give the Amex CS a call and see if they can update the passport name on their end to the full 20+ charc.limit
