Forums Payment cards American Express Amex £50 cashback offer for IHG

  • 153 posts

We have a few stays planned at IHG properties later in the year, currently booked on refundable rates.

The IHG cashback offer on Amex states “Offer valid on checkout spend only”. How likely is it that it would trigger if we now book the prepaid rates? I remember seeing a post in the daily chat where Amex has declined cashback on a prepaid stay.

Are there any success stories for IHG? The main property I am looking at is the indigo in Paris.

What is the Amex IHG cashback offer, and on what card is it appearing?

Was spend £200 or more and get £50 back. It appeared on my Plat (Personal) Card.

It’s an offer that I save a long time ago: 50 back on 2000 or more on a long list of IHG properties. I have it on the Platinum and on the BAPP.

I’ve got this offer on gold and BAPP. The identical Hilton offer definitely works on pre-paid rates; I have also booked 2 nights pre-paid at IHG hotels today so we’ll see if a) the hotels take the payment before the offer expires and b) the cash back appears!

You should find out pretty quickly, I split my ihg bill across two cards and they both tracked and credited to my cards within two days

Works fine – your only risk, if the stay is after the end of the offer, is that the hotel doesn’t bother to charge your card in advance.

Hilton seems to be processing payments on pre-paid rates automatically, the 2 x IHG transactions aren’t even showing as pending yet.

Anyone having problems with payout on this one?

The family & I stayed in HIE Gatwick 6th April before flying out on an early morning flight, we went over £200 spend and Amex have confirmed I am eligible for statement credit but has been over a month & a half.

They are also a month late crediting me with a sign up bonus (the one that doubled the week after I got my card) so I could just be they don’t like me!

Hi guys I am looking at a future booking on the £50/£200 deal. Has anyone any update on if it works?

Worked perfectly for me tracked same day and credited before statement date (makes a change!), just be sure to check the list of hotels the offer is valid at.

my IHG 200-50 offer didn’t trigger, i got 2 one-night stays on 2 IHG hotels on the list, the 2nd night was from late april, chatted to online agent, not-helpful at all

It will probably trigger in the end. All Amex offers are taking an age to credit these days. It is most certainly not the slick operation it used to be.

I have an upcoming stay at Kimpton de Witt, booked through Emyr (bon vivant). What is the best way to utilise this offer as my total price is 902EUR.

Obvious questions are that it’s paid at check out, so would I be able to split over 2 cards? I then would have the bad FX rate paying with UK amex, but presume this is still a good deal with the cash back? Anything I’m missing (eg asking to pay in advance)?

    Thanks
