Amex Business card – any retention offers?

Hi all

I heard someone recently say they managed to get an extra year free on their business gold after a retention call. I’m interested in trying to do the same, except I’m hoping I might be able to do this without emptying the MR points out first. I’m aware they won’t think I’m serious in cancelling if there is still a pot of 100k points there.

Should I just say I want to transfer all my points out and cancel at the same time?

Transferring the balance to another card is not an option, as I run this account for a family member.

I got this offer on a business Gold.

I didnt clear out the MR account first. I had a personal gold running at the same time so my points were protected anyway. If that had not been the case I would have had 30 days to use them anyway if I understand Amex rules correctly.
