Amex “Apple – iPhone” cashback offer?

I have an Amex cashback offer for £80 off “Apple – iPhone”. Has anyone got this working for a non-iPhone purchase from Apple, eg. an iPad?

I don’t see how Amex would know whether you bought an iPhone or another product?

I have used this offer twice to purchase an e gift card and then used it for other Apple items.

Is there a transaction limit at physical stores? I tried to buy £800 of gift cards but the transaction kept being declined.

Just buy them online £450 and £350 and save yourself the hassle of going into the store!
