Hi!
I’m looking to get some LHR to IAD reward flights next April and all that is being released is AF via CDG
Not ideal at all! But apart from the extended duration and stopover, as there any other differences I should be aware of?
Eg I know I will be in AF Business seats instead of Virgin Upper, but can I still use the Virgin clubhouses?
Cheers!
IAD is regularly apalling for arrival wait times. Security on departure is dire too. Have you tried Delta ex-DUB? Land in ATL, JFK or BOS and then a hop to DCA instead of IAD; DCA is a world of difference.

Mobile lounges at IAD are a curiosity the first time, but once is enough.
I’ve posted before that I once “raced” a colleague to our Crystal City hotel. He went direct to IAD. I went via EWR to DCA. Our flights departed LHR a few minutes apart.
He was exiting immigration at IAD as I was checking in – and I’d walked to Crystal City from DCA.

Oh no, we are flying there in December and were hoping that our 2 1/2 queue for immigration in 2018 was a one-off!
The mobile lounges are one of my favourite bits of Eames history – if you’re bored today, the original (flawed!) marketing video for them from the late fifties is a good watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oyb4nLFeg5M.
How strange, we’ve just used IAD, despite being first off a 380 we were literally the last people through immigration and ours were the only cases left on the carousel but we were in a taxi within 30 minutes of deboarding.
For check in we arrived a bit early, almost 4 hours before our flight but walked straight upto an open BA desk through to security where there was no queue at all and into the BA lounge all within 20 minutes of leaving our taxi.
