Discuss today's stories:
I made an Avios booking on BA for an Aer Lingus flight. It was due to depart at 8.40am but was cancelled at 12.40am (basically no notice given it was overnight). I have contacted both BA and Aer Lingus to request the refund and compensation for the cancellation. Both are refusing to deal with it, saying to contact the other airline. Should be an open and shut case as the airline cancelled the flight. How did anyone resolve anything similar? Thanks!
Was the flight from Ireland? Put a complaint in with the Irish aviation regulator to start the clock running on that. You can always tell them the matter has been resolved if it has in the meantime.
I’m wondering if the issue is that BA should provide the refund and Aer Lingus the compensation, as the operating airline (if compo is due, what was the reason for the cancellation?)
No, it was BHX to BHD.
Pretty sure that an Emerald Airlines obo Aer Lingus route. That should not complicate matters but they may attempt to do so
