I recently decided to cancel my Platinum Amex card as I have barely used it these past 18 months. However, I am still waiting for a refund for something I purchased using it.
Back in 2019, I asked Concierge to help me purchase two tickets to a concert in Sept 2020 that I had later (around May 2020) asked to cancel and receive a refund on (because I fell pregnant in early 2020 and, of course, the pandemic was in full swing). The concert was postponed until 2022 allegedly. Since I requested a refund in 2020, all Amex ever tells me is that their reseller needs to sell the ticket before they can refund me and in all this time it has not happened. I paid £600 for those tickets and now I have cancelled my card, I am unsure what my rights are to receive a refund. I’m wondering if anyone is, or has been, in a similar situation – do I have any recourse to receive a refund on those tickets?
Thanks.
As you voluntarily cancelled the ticket, and the event was still running, you will have to wait and/or lose the money. It is unfortunate: if you had waited, you would have been due a full refund.
