As someone who used to contract for Accor, I now actively avoid all of their properties as I know just how disorganised and loathsome they are behind the scenes 😂

I was just about to pull the trigger on buying a gift card or two but your comment has reminded me what an absolute drama it was last time I tried to redeem one at Sofitel LHR checkout – not worth the grief I have decided so thanks for that timely intervention! 😎

I’ve decided to have a tickle.

Given that they no longer seem inclined to track my cashback I need to get a reduction somehow. With my super dooper platinum status I’ll be visiting at some point in 2025.

Thanks for flagging the checkout point @Guernsey-Globetrotter

Will deal with it the night before exiting.

Will this count towards elite spend? Or will it be excluded like points?

The FAQ says you do but I’m not bothered as will be spending down for the next couple of years as zero chance of retaining platinum and can’t see me retaining gold either (I think they do soft landings now?) so won’t make a difference to me.

Thanks, I’ve been checking all week for this one. It’s one of the few Black Friday offers that I go for. Definitely agree that you should get the card dealt with at check-in and not leave it to check-out.

Card validity is 3 years, previously 5.

If you don’t care about the spending aspect, buying points from All Signature is a much better deal.

I used one last year at Sofitel HRW and presented it at check-in with no problem. I’ll be doing the same in a few weeks.

I used one 2 years ago at LHR. You’d have thought the check-in staff had never seen them before! Took 20 mins of behind scenes activity, and then thinking all was OK was pestered with emails several weeks later to pay a further sum which Sofitel said I owed. Their admin took a lot of convincing. paperwork proof Voucher reference final bill etc before they agreed they were in the wrong!
Hadn’t stopped me purchasing another for use next year- a saving all helps in the grand scheme!

I have stayed at the Sofitel LHR T5 four times this year. On each occasion I handed in the gift card during check-in. Each time they made a note, handed the gift card to the back desk and the credit was applied to my room bill before I checked out. I made a point of checking my bill at reception before leaving the hotel and I found no issues with the billing.

Just a question from someone who is not giftcard savvy. I have two flights next year from LHR and would like to stay at the Sofitel at least for one of them, they are later in the year, how long are the gift cards valid for, can you add parking to your booking and use the gift cards on that as well ? Thank you.

Edit, are they physical cards like cc cards, or something that needs to be downloaded on to a phone.

The current cards are valid for 3 years, previously 5 years. They get sent to whichever email address you nominate and you download them as a PDF (I’m a bit old school so print them too).

I’m planning to use mine on a Park, Stay & Fly rate next year as my understanding is that you use them like cash when setting your account.

When I’ve used them previously they just apply the credit to your bill which can include F&B.

Thank you so much. I think I will go for 2 x £100 to put towards the hotel cost, I’m a worried about them selling out.

This has been the only good Friday deal that has tempted me.

Also old school so I will print them out as well.

Gah! You’ve all sucked me back in !! Pulled the trigger on a couple of £200 vouchers as I’m going for Platinum next year and so definitely need to clock up about £1k of spend alongside my All Signature subscription status… gotta get those stacking discounts 🤑

They’d better cash em without hassle at the LHR Sofitel or I’ll blame you lot! 😉

Does anyone know if more than one gift card can be used to cover a single stay?

I used 4 x £200 IIRC at Windsor Park last year.

I bought 3 and used one immediately at check-in in Leeds. I would recommended immediately downloading them or screen-shotting them as every email confirmation had literally no voucher attached or reference number!

There should be a second email from them with the link to download and print.
