Forums Other Destination advice 48 hours in Dubai

  • 38 posts

First time in Dubai, as a stopover. 2 people and our budget is roughly £100-125 per night for a hotel (Happy with basic Hilton or Marriot properties, but above Premier Inn)

What is the best area to stay in for a short stop and any thoughts on an intinerary?

Onward journey is to Sri Lanka so won’t be upset if I miss certain things out.

    Many thanks

I’d look at Downtown Dubai/Business Bay properties. Do Burj Khalifa/Dubai mall on one day and the next day maybe do an afternoon desert tour with some of the better providers. You didn’t say which time of the year as if it’s June-September you can get better hotels for less money.

48 hours is tricky. You might want to book in for afternoon tea at the Burj, or perhaps one of the signature restaurants at Madinat Jumeirah. If you don’t, you’ll struggle to see any sea or beach because there isn’t that much private beach. If you have a full clear day then a desert trip, perhaps some dune riding in a buggy, would work.

Apart from that, you might as well do a Dubai Mall trip and see Burj Khalifa, perhaps go at night and see the dancing fountains.

Bit out of the way, but perhaps the Ritz Carlton Al Wadi Desert resort in Ras (1 hour drive, about £40 in a taxi) would do the job. Depending on where you’re going you may be happy to skip sea and beach.

Ritz Carlton doesn’t fit the OP’s budget.

Have a look at Conrad. There’s also Sheraton Grand which was reviewed last year by Rhys (have a look at his review). I mean February can be pricey. IHG hotels are usually cheaper.
